Fascination with Pirates of the Caribbean is still strong in me. After watching the third part for the fourth time, this time on DVD, I've come up with a crazy idea of soldering a large key to Davy Jones' chest, in which he has put his heart (btw, Jason Cairns makes gorgeous antiqued sterling keys as pendants). Then I thought that the key needs the chest. I wanted to make a small chest that still could be opened and closed to treasure something inside. This tiny thing (measuring 1.2'' by 1.2'' by 0.8'') was made in 4 days. I have adorned it with various hand-crafted ornaments, a filigree net but also with topaz and labradorite stones. The chest opens and closes and there's a heart of red chalcedony inside of it. The whole piece is adorned with a huge labradorite marquise and topaz briolette I have received from a very special person. The necklace was made in sterling and fine silver and oxidised.
It will be really difficult for me to part with this piece - I've put all of my heart into it, almost literally ;)
The key is 2.6'' long
The double chain measures 24''
