Some commissions are especially close to my heart. This time I was asked to create a necklace similar to the Essence of Life - it is a gift for a Mother of a Newborn Child. Robert's wife likes vivid colours and so I made a necklace with carnelian and freshwater pearls in an intensive shade of pink.
The main pendant consists of several elements symbolising various aspects of love. A beautiful sterling bead in a shape of a bud was dressed in the wire-woven bead cap - a symbol of home, which was adorned with a beautiful carnelian briolette - it is a goog spirit which should live among every happy family. Silver bead wrapped in wire coils is a symbol of winding roads we must follow to find the one we love. Faceted nugget of carnelian was wrapped in several layers of wire - sometimes the most important things are hidden.
Three rings braided into the chain stand for parents and their child - two people joined by new life for eternity. Robert asked me to create one element symbolising his newborn child - it's the filigree bead in which a round of carnelian was placed. This element shows the love and safety parents want to give to their baby. Another element clearly referring to love is the heart-shaped toggle clasp.
